I collected these leaves from a young hackberry tree that were infested by hackberry psyllids, tiny insects that lay their eggs on emerging leaves in spring. The larvae feed on the leaf, and the leaf forms a capsule around each one. The tree is not damaged. The tiny adults emerge in fall.
